LE-OH NO! Lisa McKenzie, whose research on birth defects is heavily touted by fractivists, even admits that none of her studies “show that living near O&G wells causes the health outcome” and that “they’re not sufficient to make that temporal connection.” Further, the Colorado Department of Public Health and the Environment (CDPHE) has called the study’s conclusions “misleading” and that it “does not prove or establish such a connection” between oil and gas operations and childhood leukemia. Not to mention, one of the leading causes of lung cancer, fine particulate matter, has dropped roughly 32 percent from 2005-2016 thanks to the increased use of natural gas.
