We are not merely self-sufficient…We are by far the world’s largest producer of natural gas and increasingly an important exporter. (Source)

Daniel Yergin, Vice Chairman of IHS Markit

True that; DOUBLE TRUE. FRACT. According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, the United States remains the top oil and natural gas producing country in the world (for the fifth consecutive year!). This has led to increased energy security, as our country. produces so much oil that net imports of petroleum declined from 2005 to 2015, reaching their lowest point since 1970. This also means increased energy security for our allies as U.S. energy exports has increased thanks to fracking. U.S. natural gas exports reached 2.3 trillion cubic feet last year, roughly triple natural gas exports from just 10 years before.
