The notion that we’re going to keep it all in the ground is unrealistic. (Source)

FRACT. Activists who think we can “keep-it-in-the-ground” are not only wrong but “unrealistic” (we prefer “absurd” or “completely ridiculous,”). This is because oil and natural gas play a role in almost everything we do – from heating and cooling our homes, fueling our cars and trucks, and allowing us to fly across the country in only a few hours, to providing the building blocks for our electronics. So unless the “keep-it-in-the-ground” fractivists want to shun all technology, grow their own food, make their own clothes and travel by horse, oil and gas will continue to play a vital role in their lives and ours.
