The problem is that everywhere the gas drilling industry goes, a trail of water contamination, air pollution, health concerns and betrayal of basic American civic and community values follows. (Source)

This is yet another example of the Yankees cap-wearing hipster behind the wildly inaccurate “Gasland” film showing he has no real knowledge of fracking. According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, fracking does not pose a major risk to drinking water resources. Additionally, thanks to the natural gas produced through fracking being increasingly relied upon for electricity generation, emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2), sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, and volatile organic compounds have decreased substantially, thereby improving air quality. Moreover, shale development has been shown to be a net benefit to communities in which it is taking place, helping increase employment, housing prices, average household income and tax revenues – all of which sound like supporting “American civic and community values,” not betraying them.
