FRACT. When former President Obama made that statement in his 2013 State of the Union address, the United States had produced over 29.5 trillion cubic feet of natural gas the year before, a new record. Since then, thanks to fracking, natural gas production has grown even more, reaching over 32.6 trillion cubic feet in 2016.
